Island Harvest Farm

Spring is here! (I think/hope) The propagation greenhouse is filling up fast with starts waiting for the right time to be transplanted out in the fields. Peas are starting to grow in caterpillar tunnels and most importantly, the tomatoes have germinated!

We continue our commitment to food safety and feeding our community. Thank you for supporting the local food economy. I am not certified organic, but I use only non-GMO seeds and do not apply any synthetic chemicals to my plants or soil. I focus on building soil health to support happy, healthy plants.

2024 is my 10th season farming here on Camano!! My goal is to provide an option for fresh, seasonal and flavorful produce! I am grateful for every person I have met along the way and for all the learning and experiences of the past 10 years. I look forward to continued growth and improvement in the coming years! Thank you to everyone who has supported my farming adventure!

Rachel, your farm is ridiculously fantastic and I notice your produces holds in my fridge so much longer than anything from the grocery store! That says something about the “freshness” or lack thereof from the retail markets, eh? I am in love with everything we’ve gotten–from baby beets to broccoli. I have no words for your parsley except YUM. The organic difference is EVERTYTHING. YAY–Stephanie

We just bought a house on Camano Island last month and feel so lucky to live close to Island Harvest Farm, we have purchased from your stand a number of times, eat your veggies every day and absolutely love it. Today I went to the grocery store and completely ignored the produce section because I am content with what we have from your farm! Keep up the good work and my family thanks you for bringing healthful organic food to our neighborhood!

      Hi Meg!
My farm stand is at 825 Arrowhead Rd. Just up the road from the community center and utsalady elementary school. The weather has everything a little behind this season, but I should open sometime in the first couple weeks of May.
      Thanks!
      Rachel

Veggies are off to a good start! Love everything we get. Will you have spinach or am I getting there too late? Keep up the good work, love having good produce tight here.

We got some kohlrabi and radishes from you a couple weeks back while visiting the island. Both were wonderful. The kohlrabi in particular was the sweetest I’ve ever had. I’m curious – is it a special variety, or does picking them smaller than I usually see give you the sweetness?

Thank you! The variety I used this year was Lech. I do harvest them on the smaller side, which may make them sweeter. I am glad you liked them! Kohlrabi has become one of my favorite veggies!

Hi there. It’s Bonnie down the road. We are missing your arugula a lot but totally understand you’ve got to move on to other things. But…I’m getting ready to plant some of my veg garden this week and I was wondering if you could tell me the variety of arugula you’ve grown so I can find some seeds. I know it’s kinda silly to be so enthralled by arugula, but it really is the BEST I’ve ever had by a long shot. Thanks in advance!

I will grow more in the fall! I used organic arugula seed from Johnnys. Seed packet just says arugula, so no special variety name. I’m so glad you liked it!!

Hi Rachel, it was great to meet you last Sunday. I gave my friend a slice of your tomatoes and we were instantly back at the stand buying 4 more pounds. They’re unbelievable.
